I don’t know why it is but many people only work on two or three body parts instead of their total body. Avoid that by working all body parts including your shoulders, forearms, chest, triceps, traps, abs, buttocks, hamstrings, calves, lateral, biceps, and quads.
You don’t want to work out all of your muscles every day though. Alternate your sessions by working out your upper body one day then your lower body the next. This allows your muscles one full day to recover in between workouts.
Start with 3 sets of 10 reps for every exercise. Follow each set with a 1 to 2 minute break. Don’t start off with weights that are so heavy you cannot complete all the repetitions. You don’t want to use weights that are too light either or you will not build muscle like you want. Use a weight that makes it difficult for you to get through those last three reps. When you can just barely make it, you know you are using the right amount of weight for the time being.
When it gets to be easy to get through all of your reps, then it is time to ramp up your build muscle workout. Add more weights or change up your sessions by switching from 3 sets of 10 reps to 5 sets of 5 reps. Just remember to take a couple of minutes to rest between sets. When you use just the right amount of weight, you are more effective at tearing your muscles which is what you need to build muscles.
After you have been bodybuilding for three to four weeks, you can ramp up your build muscle workout. Any time you feel your muscles are not reacting to the pressure of the weights you are using, it is time to step them up. Just keep in mind, that the pain your muscles feel means they are tearing, which is what you want, but they do need sufficient rest in order to heal and grow bigger.
